“June”
Over the last few years, Pittsburgh’s JaketheHawk have steadily burned and branded themselves onto the greater regional music scene. After quickly becoming a fan-favorite at prominent music hubs such as Youngstown Ohio’s Westside Bowl, the band have won over audiences with their mesmerizing game-blend of crunching riffs, spacey atmosphere and punching melodies. None more evident than with “June,” from their latest performance for the Mindrocket Sessions. With “June,” thick riffs clash with melodic vocals and Stoner Rock grooves introduce the track. However, after about a third of the way in, the band shift gears and offer more breathy atmosphere before concluding the song with a slamming Jerry Cantrellian riff and prolonged Stoner-Rock jam outro. All in all, JaketheHawk offer up a fresh take on a beloved sound with more twists and turns than the genre can usually muster.
