Take a deep breath and prepare your mind, body and soul for “Moonmoons;” a haunting atmospheric dance to and fro, amid swirling time-signature shifts and frantic instrumentation. Such is the way for Youngstown’s seminal Prog-Rock outfit Between the Witches. Their debut album, “Dark Circles,” finds Between the Witches weaving post-hardcore aggression with jazz-like swing, unwavering noise and pure Progressive Rock bliss. The band serve up a live performance of the albums’s closer “Moonmoons” a ripping climatic piece full of the tension reminiscent of The Mars Volta or Porcupine Tree, but also serving plenty of nods to the jazz fusion rooted deep in King Crimson and Yes. As the song bounces of the walls like the stark raving mad, it provides many moments of brilliance with swinging rhythms and crunchy riffs, before slowly falling on a spiraling noise-driven outro.
